Guidelines for Publication

Eligibility for Submission

  • Submissions are open to faculty members, students, research scholars.

  • The manuscript must be an original, unpublished work and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Publications Formats

​

  • KRC Commentaries
    Brief analyses on topics of contemporary relevance or concise opinion articles offering factual insights and analysis on specific issues.
    Word limit: Word limit: 800-1000 words.

​

  • KRC Issue Briefs
    A brief analysis-based paper with policy recommendations.
    Word limit: Up to 2,000 words (excluding references)

​

  • KRC Book Reviews
    Reviews of books published.
    Word limit: Between 800 and 1,200 words.

​

  • KRC Occasional Papers
    Long-form articles, which cover historical bases, and politics, among other major factors.
    Word limit: Up to 5,000 words.

​

  • KRC Brief Article

Word limit: 800-1000 words.​

Formatting Requirements

  • File Format:
    Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

  • Font & Size:
    Use Times New Roman, 12-point font throughout the paper, including the title, body, and references.

  • Line Spacing:
    The manuscript should be 1.5-spaced throughout, excluding the references section, which should be 1-, or 1.15-spaced.

  • Alignment:
    Please justify the text, except for headings and titles, which may be centre-aligned.

  • Indentation:
    While quoting sections from a source, if the quotation exceeds 40 characters, please quote it in a new paragraph, and indent it 2 points on both sides. Please reduce the font size of the quoted text to 10-point.

Title Page

The title should be concise, informative. It should appear in bold. The title page should include the following:

             Author(s) Information:

                        - Full name(s) of the author(s)

                        - Affiliation (e.g., department, university, institution)

                        - Contact email address

                        - Acknowledgments or funding disclosures (if applicable).

Abstract

  • The abstract should be no more than 250-300 words, and should provide a brief summary of the paper, including the research question(s), methodology, and conclusion(s).

  • Avoid citations in the abstract.

  • Include about five keywords after the abstract, separated by semi-colons.

Structure of the Paper
(Except KRC Book Reviews)

  • Introduction:
    Clearly state the research questions and objectives of the paper.

  • Literature Review:
    Please mention key studies related to your topic and establish the theoretical framework.

  • Methodology:
    Describe the research methods employed in the paper.

  • Body:
    Should include your arguments with due evidence and citations.

  • Conclusion:
    Provide a summary of key findings, limitations, and suggestions for future research.

 

 

Referencing Style

All citations and references must follow the 7th edition of the APA (American Psychological Association) referencing style.

 

In-text citations:

  • For works by one author: (Smith, 2020)

  • For two authors: (Smith & Johnson, 2020)

  • For three or more authors: (Smith et al., 2020)

  • Direct quotes must include a page number: (Smith, 2020, p. 15)

 

References:

Begin on a new page at the end of the manuscript.

The reference list should be 1- or 1.15 spaced, and alphabetised by the author's last name.

 

Tables, Figures, and Appendices

Tables and Figures:
Each table or figure must be included in the manuscript after its first mention.

            - Number all tables and figures sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1).

            - Provide a title and description for each table and figure.

            - Tables and figures must be clearly referenced in the text (e.g., “As shown in Table 1…”).

 

Appendices:
Appendices should follow the reference list and be titled "Appendix" with an identifying letter (e.g., Appendix A, Appendix B).

Research Ethics

 

Plagiarism:

Authors are expected to ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. All submissions will be checked for plagiarism, and papers found with significant overlap with published works may be rejected.

 

Conflict of Interest:
Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest, including financial or personal relationships that may influence the research or its interpretation.

Submission Process

  • All submissions must be sent to kresearchcircle@gmail.com, along with a brief bio of the author(s) and the publication format under which they wish to submit.

  • The Subject Line should read: ‘Submission for Publication Under ____ Format’.

  • A statement confirming that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere, or is currently under consideration elsewhere.

  • Contact details for all corresponding authors.

  • Peer Review
    All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers will not have access to the authors’ identities, and authors will not know who the reviewers are.

 

Review and Decision Timeline

  • The review process typically takes 3-4 weeks.

  • Authors will be required to work with the Editorial Team with regard to major/minor revisions, as deemed necessary.

  • Korea Research Circle reserves the right to reject the submission at any point in time during the review process.
